National Wear Red Day
Employees showed their red spirit on Friday, February 3 in honor of National Wear Red Day supporting the American Heart Association (AHA). Denise Dresbach in Education coordinated the distribution of Dove dark chocolate hearts to all employees. She also posted selfies from departments wearing red and held a raffle giving away AHA prizes. Dr. Simpson handed out red dress pins while Heather Pond showed off her lack of cherleading skills. Several departments shared their healthy heart cooking skills. Dr. Simpson was thrilled with the employee participation and thanked those who also donated to The Medical Foundation FUNraising Team at Go Red for Women - National Wear Red Day.
Little Hats, Big Hearts
As the only sponsor for Little Hats, Big Hearts for this area, The Medical Foundation's President, Joyce Simpson, M.D., enjoyed passing out tiny red hats at Saint Joseph Health System in Mishawaka on Monday, February 6. Hats were also provided to Beacon Health System's Memorial Hospital and Elkhart General Hospital. All babies born in the month of February will receive a hand knitted or crocheted hat made by area volunteers. The program promotes education of congenital heart defects and heart disease. Men of Heart Mardi Gras Masquerade
The 2017 Mardi Gras Masquerade will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Granger on Thursday, Feburary 9th. The annual event which helps Michiana men live heart healthy lives will feature an all-you-can-eat New Orleans inspired buffet and fun Cajun music.
According to a Facebook post "Experience a night of reveling including Cajun Creole Cuisine, Music & Dancing, Masks & Beads and Silent & Live Auction.
